• Fifteen Firsts in Paris

This trip was a childhood dream of mine. It first appeared on my bucket list fifteen years prior when my parents returned from their Parisian anniversary. All it took was one bite of a Ladurée macaron, and I knew I would have to visit.

To some it’s cliché, but France became this magical place in my eight-year-old mind, brimming with class and sophistication. I could feel a sense of wonder as I imagined the Mona Lisa and strolling under the sparkling Eiffel Tower at night. I longed to sit on a street-side terrace and watch the world go by, baguette in hand. My only fear was that Paris would be different than I imagined and less magical than I had dreamed.

Although no city is without flaws, every apprehension disappeared as I walked through Le Marais. It was perfectly imperfect and even the grunge had a sense of urban suavity. There’s really no way to summarize a city like Paris so instead, I’ll try to caption my fifteen firsts and faves.

Fresh pastries, old bookshops, local fabric, little toy stores—you name it, they have it.
