Simply serene, Lake Bled was just the daydream you’d imagine it to be.
With the smell of crisp air and the crunch of golden leaves,
there was never a reason to stay inside.
We walked and hiked then walked a bit more until we came across the infamous creme cake (yum!!).
I could have happily sat on that terrace all afternoon…
but Vintgar Gorge was calling my name.
I wish you could have seen the changing colors of the water.
For a moment it was blue but then would melt into a foamy green.
As we creaked across the crooked bridges, I felt my jaw dropping more than once.
It was such a unique experience hiking “on top of” the crystal clear gorge.
If you’re looking for a place to unplug and recharge, I’d 100% recommend Lake Bled. Everything about it was full of nature and relaxation while also having an element of adventure. Mamut was super helpful in getting us to/from Vintgar Gorge and around town for a reasonable price. They also do canyoning, kayaking through caves and other activities that make the trip worthwhile. If you’re looking for a yummy place to eat, we loved everything at Okarina (especially the grilled salmon and traditional creme cake). For a beautiful view, take the hike up to the famous bench and make sure to wear the right shoes (!!!). A local lightheartedly said we could do the hike in heels, and I could not disagree more haha. It’s a pretty quick hike, but portions of it have a steep incline. Yet again, I wish we had had more time, but that just means I’ll be back!!
